Well HEY! Another of year of the greatest race in the Land o' MABRA (yes, we own our bias).
Welcome to Baltimore Youth Cycling's Frosty Cross! We are proud to once again be hosting the MABRA Age Graded Championships!
We’re glad you'll be joining us. This year we are back at the Agricultural Center: the same great venue and awesome course (can’t wait to see what our course designer comes up with this year).
This year we are introducing wave starts!
All riders in a wave will start on a single whistle and results that are sent to USA Cycling will be based on the wave, not on the individual categories. Podiums and prizes at the event WILL BE broken out by category. We repeat, All riders in a wave will start on a single whistle and results that are sent to USA Cycling will be based on the wave, not on the individual categories. Podiums and prizes at the event WILL BE broken out by category.
Why are we doing this? For a few reasons – first and foremost, we believe it provides a better race experience for everyone. Riders in races with multiple classes will start based on Cross Results point meaning a rider starting on a second whistle won’t have to work through the slower riders from the first whistle right after their start. For categories with fewer riders, it means a more competitive race and a chance to work on your race-craft instead of riding around the course with only a few riders. Secondly, it provides a better opportunity for riders to earn points and better their USAC ranking. USAC points will be scored based on the wave rather than the individual field. For riders in smaller fields, this means a chance to earn points where no points would have been awarded for the smaller field. For all riders, you have the chance to earn points based on a larger pool of riders (and thus USAC points).
Location:
The Center for Maryland Agriculture is located at 1114 Shawan Rd Cockeysville, MD 21030 about one mile west of I-83. It's conveniently located a few minutes away from Hunt Valley, where you will find hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and any other services you might need. We have ample on-site parking.
Looking forward to a great day!!! We've put an order in for great weather (definition of this may vary by racer).
